Gift

This picture will remind me of the friendship from Nancy. She is the joy, the anchor of this practice. I believe I have not seen her in an angry mode yet, at least at work. We celebrate Valentines, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas because of her. If you are sure what we are celebrating, stop by her desk and you will know. Maybe we should call her the "Celebration Lady!"

Empty

Ending the year empty

is not

what I have in mind.

Starting the New Year empty

is not

a bad proposition.

It is

a beginner's mind.

Pink 2

This is my next project. A request from a lady who loves pink. I did not think I would find a pink flower in the middle of winter. But as the Chinese saying goes, "It might be as far as the sky or as near as in front of your eyes!"

New Mexico Sky

At first glance, there is probably nothing special about this picture. Clouds, sunlight and a naked tree. But in New Mexico, clouds are actually rare. We are so used to a plain blue sky, a few clouds from time to time make a good treat!

Flow

Going with the flow of the day is important. There are many things that I rather do now. But the most important is flow.

Moon

If I were to visit
your sunny side, I would stay calm
and whisper softly. I do not want
the whole earth to see me
in broad daylight.
If I were to visit
your darker side, I would hide
behind the pitted rock, staying out of sight
from your coyote.
I am ready to see
the Bay of Dew,
a wonderful name
for a desert in the sky.
And before I choose my dream tonight,
let me turn your switch off
and lie beside you.

Desert Christmas

If we add a little light, this will be the desert Christmas tree. Dry, no snow, definitely not a white Christmas. Keep dreaming.

Pink

You said you want a pink flower
in the middle
of winter
I search the dry dessert
among the cactus
behind the yucca
under the juniper
which lead me to my yard
under the frozen water
next to the sunken feather
to the root of my summer lily

Celebrate

Celebrate. Celebrate peace. Celebrate home coming for the soldiers. There are more things to take care at home than overseas.

Busy

A drescription of my day.

Memory

We probably have a common short term memory loss. In the middle of this cold winter, it is hard to remember how hot it could be in the summer days. Here's a picture to prove it.

Gift

If I were to ask for a gift today, I want a day in that valley again. Give me a cabin, let me sleep, let me walk with my camera. Yes, Angela can come.

Patience

Finally, I found something for this "edging" effect. Patience. Patience pays off. In this "fast food" days, patience is a rare commodity. May this be a reminder for myself. Be patient.

Free

Free, freedom. Free, do anything. Free, priceless. Free, responsibility. Welcome to the land of the free and see what it has cost the society. Depression, divorse, single parents, flooding jail...

Las Vegas, Nevada

Vegas

Vegas, Money. Vegas, Limelight. Vegas, Gambling. Yes, it takes some gambling spirit to do certain things. Copying this Paris structure is a gamble. Is it going to add to the charm of Vegas? There are times that I had to gamble too. Not necessarily on the casino tables. More on something like marriage.

Accidental

Some good things in life are found accidentally. This is one of them.

Rocky

Maybe this is a good way to end the week, rocky. The moon was really full at night. When I looked at it, it could hear the wolf howling. It has been rocky. People threathening to sue, people denying an important equipment for a patient. I am looking forward to a beautiful lawn beyond this rocky levee.

Change

If I can change things around me like a few clicks in the computer with this picture, life will be easier.

Anger

Is black the color of anger? Or is it red? When things settle on top of each other, when I see unreasonable things happening, it can be black. When it feels like a fire burning, it is definitely red!

Love and Hate

A pattern, A negative, A culture. I always have my love and hate for the Japanese culture. How can a country with so much beauty involved in so much killings? But from another perspective, aren't we like that?

39

Why 39? With all the other numbers there, why did this pier get the limelight? We probably do not really need to ask that question. There are times when it is much better just to accept and enjoy.

The world of color. The world of magic at my finger tips.

Surprise

Honestly, I did not see the bird when I took this picture. What a pleasant surprise it is to see that I actually captured a glimpse of that bird. For me, surprises are always welcomed, especially the good ones.

The Fairy Tale

We were lead to believe that once we found our Prince Charming or Princess Gorgeous, people will say, "... and they lived happily ever after." That may be true, but not without a lot of hard work, both physical and emotional. Obviously, those chidren book writers did not get a chance to get married.

Life

Life is sometimes black, sometimes white, and sometimes gray. It depends on who you are, where you are, what you are doing, why you are doing, and how you are doing.

I enjoy watching the trees during winter time. They drop their makeup and show us what they are made of.

Fort Imagination

We all have the key to a fort in our mind. A place for us to roam around, a place to let our imagination fly, a place to get our emotional garbage out.

The Waiting Shed

A rest stop after a long walk. A place to sit and wait. I do not like to wait. But today I will. Waiting for a peom to come, waiting for the poem to tell me, what am I angry about?

Deer Scare

The deer distractor tells me a story that I haven't seen. Tak, tak, tak. There is no deer to scare, maybe just some nightmares lately.

Wild Wild West

This is as close as we can get to the Old West, the days of cowboys and Indians. Thank God we did not have to ride on horses to visit this part of the land.

Frosty

It was a short visit to Grand Canyon. The weather was so cold that we have to leave early. This is what we found, Frosty!

The Other Boy

He is the other boy, the other kid. Owning a dog is like having another child. No matter how the kids screams for him, it is not going to happen. When the plate is full, the plate is full.

"Buddy" in Colorado

Day Dream

A good place to day dream. I still remember Chris' comment. "Dr. Conlon, you are half an hour behind, stop day dreaming!" What a place, what a memory!

No Man is an Island

The most cruel punishment for a human being is probably solitary confinement. That's what they do in jail. Does it work? Somewhere in California, Stanley Williams is waiting for his clemency hearing.

The Old Man and the Sea

There are times that we might feel by ourselves in a wide open sea. Just the wind, the wave and the salty air. It is probably good for the soul. Too much noise and activities will just drown the little voice that needs some attention.

The Other Side

I am surprised how many people ask me what bridge this is. I thought it is obvious, it is the Golden Gate. Maybe we should in our daily life, look at an issue from the other side. Same issue, different perspective.

It is part of me, whether I want it or not. Sometimes I felt that it will be much easier if I were brought up in a single culture. But in these days, that will be somewhere in a jungle!

There are many temptations in life, some are obvious, some are not. In our daily struggle with these temptations, what can we do?

Answer: avoid Vegas at all cost!
